Prof. Darryl Butt, PhD is the Dean of the College of Mines and Earth Sciences, a Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, and Director of an Energy Frontiers Research Center at the University of Utah. He has held a variety of research and management positions in industry, academia, and at national laboratories, overseeing many multi-investigator, multi-institutional programs. His research and scholarly works have spanned the arts and sciences including research in carbon dioxide sequestration, development of materials for extreme environments and energy applications, nuclear non-proliferation and international security, membranes for the production of liquid fuels from natural gas, and archaeometry of materials of art and cultural heritage. He is the author of approximately 250 journal publications and book chapters.
