Jennifer Giaccai is a conservation scientist in the Conservation and Scientific Research department of the Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution. She has degrees in chemistry and materials science from Macalester College and the Johns Hopkins University. She has previously worked at the Smithsonian’s Museum Conservation Institute and the Walters Art Museum. Her areas of interest are inks and pigments used in Asian works of art, the use of natural resins in cultural heritage, and non-invasive methods of investigating museum objects.
