Randy Silverman began his bookbinding career in 1978, and has served as the Head of Preservation at the University of Utah’s Marriott Library since 1993. He holds the academic rank of tenured Full Librarian and has served as adjunct faculty for six library science programs. He has 97 professional publications to date and has presented professional lectures or workshops in 32 states and 13 foreign countries, including the Library of Congress Topics in Preservation Series (TOPS) lecture in 2018. He was presented with the American Library Association’s Banks-Harris Preservation Award in 2013, received a Fulbright Specialists award in 2014, and was received the Utah Academy of Sciences, Arts, and Letters, Gardner Prize, for “outstanding academic contributions” in 2016.
